The Headliner

Updated: Oct 30, 2022

Photo shoot circa 1984

In the 80's, I was hired as a sales manger and merchandise manager for an apparel company in Tampa. That's when I met Mirna, a talented designer from Honduras and one of the most creative and funny people I have ever known. I was her boss but she often reminded me that she was the one that made me look good.

Even though we came from totally different backgrounds, we became instant friends and still are some 40 years later. Like I always say: "Time changes, and we, like time;

but not in the ways of friendship"

Mirna and I worked hard but had a lot of fun, usually at my expense. She often broke into her native language talking to others around me. I had no clue what she was saying, but I could tell it was something funny, because everyone was laughing and patting me on the back.

She would say: "Charlie, you are a Headliner!" I thought that was a tremendous compliment even though she was laughing when she said it!

There's nothing wrong with being a headliner; but you must be authentic, backing up your hype with honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty.

If you're like me and have made some bad headlines in the past, just keep improving

making even bigger and better headlines!

Your headline is your resume.

Make it authentic!
