Love Your Neighbor

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

I meet such a wide variety of fascinating people as I travel. Their jobs, descriptions, situations, struggles and personalities are all very different. But we have one thing in common: we are all children of God!

I feel blessed that I actually have the time and try to take the time to talk to those people. The least I can give them is eye-contact and a smile. But I try to go one better: A simple question of concern for them might be the one thing that changes their day from bad to good. Many times I will go extra step, giving them a card with a motivational quote or phrase, share my encouragement with them, get their address to send them a book or write them a note.

We should love people. Genuinely. `

For me that has been a big payoff in my accumulation of life's true treasure: Friendships!

. . . . for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 1John 4:20

Giving love without expectation is the highest form of love.

It is possible to give without loving, but it is impossible to love without giving.

“Many people say that you have to love yourself first before you can love others, but really, if you learn to love others, you will learn to love yourself.”

“If we wait for some people to become agreeable or attractive before we begin to love them, we will never begin. If we are content to give them a cold impersonal ‘charity’ that is merely a matter of obligation, we will not understand them or sympathize with them at all.”

-Thomas Merton, No Man is an Island

You don't need to be the best person in the world to spread love. Just spread love whenever you can, wherever you can and your love will surely touch a soul that is in need of the love!

So keep spreading love…

As Bob Goff says in his book Love Does: "Most people need love and acceptance a whole lot more than they need advice."

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Corinthians 13:7

I'm looking forward to your comments and suggestions.
