Before he died, a father gave an old watch to his son, and said:
"Your grandfather gave me this watch. It's almost 200 years old. Please take it to the jewelry store downtown, tell them I want to sell it and ask how much they will give you. Don't sell it, but come back and talk to me about it."
When the son came back from the jewelry store, he told his father, "They offered $100 because it is so old.”
The father said; “Well, try the pawnshop.” The son went to the pawnshop, came back to his father, and said, “The pawnshop offered only $20 because it has a scratch”.
The father asked his son to go to the museum and show them the watch. Honoring his dad's last wish, the son went to the museum. When he came back he said to his father; “The curator offered $375,000 for this very rare piece."
The father responded, "May this be a life-lesson: It shows you that the right place will value you in the right way. If you find yourself in the wrong place, don't get angry because you aren't valued. If someone doesn't appreciate you, it's time to start looking for a place that will!"
People who don’t know their value settle for less than they are worth, in relationships, in their profession, their job or their friendships. Even what others say about you should not affect your value.
God, your creator, has said "You are beautifully and wonderfully made." Never let someone else's opinion of you diminish what God has said about you. You are of great worth to Him.
The only thing that matters is
your opinion about yourself.
