Joy is the simplest form of gratitude!
If you're having trouble finding joy . . . . take a minute. Look around. (This seemingly time-wasting suggestion is actually soul healing.) Everybody around you will be better for it.
Starting with you!
Expressing gratitude has many mental and physical benefits including improving sleep, mood and immunity. Gratitude helps decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain and risk of disease. If someone could bottle it and sell it, they'd get rich. Quick!
Gratitude is an 'inside job', coming straight out of your heart and mind. Often overlooked, this powerful tool can have a significant impact in our life and in our work performance as well.
Like I always say: Gratitude must be intentional! In order to find gratitude, you have to express gratitude.
A straightforward way to express gratitude in our life, and also in the workplace is through small acts of kindness. A sincere compliment, a thank you note, or a small gift can go a long way in showing appreciation for a job well done.
Do you remember a time when your own light went dim and was rekindled by a spark from another person?
Zig Ziglar once said: "When you wake up in the morning you are worth a million dollars! If you were blind, deaf and crippled, how much would you pay for sight, hearing, walking?"
What are you grateful for?
“You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Like my mom always said, "Give me roses while I'm living."
THIS IS MY CHALLENGE TO YOU:
Starting today, and continuing daily, express gratitude to someone in your life, either verbally, or in writing, without expecting anything in return.
It's a funny thing about life. As you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things you lack. -Germany Kent
