Mom & Dad

Who's your daddy?

I remember the story of the little boy standing in the middle of the block, waiting for the school bus. A businessman saw him and told him that the bus wouldn't stop in the middle of the block. "You need to go to the corner where there is a bus stop", he said. But the little boy replied: "I have lots of faith the bus will stop here!" About that time a big yellow bus came down the street, pulled right beside the little boy. And just before he stepped onto the bus the little boy turned to the man and said: "Mister, the bus driver is my daddy".

It's just like trusting and putting faith in our Heavenly Father. He will guide us along life's journey.

My daddy worked in a mill most of his life. I never got in fights with the other guys at school about whose daddy was bigger. Because I always knew it was my dad. His character made him the biggest. Dad never passed a stranger. And he gave everyone he met the same gift: He had time for them and always shared a smile.

He also taught me his hard work ethic. After working over 40 years in the cotton mill, people would ask him when he was going to retire. He would always answer:

I'd rather wear out than rust out!

My parents gave me roots and wings. It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful.

It's what you have in your heart!
